Behind the Scenes in Aotearoa

The countdown is well and truly on now as we gear up for Real Pasifik reaching television screens across Aotearoa in just over a week’s time.  While we are all excitedly waiting for the series to premier we thought we would give you an insight to some of the fantastic and classy behind-the-scenes heroes that helped make Real Pasifik a true labour of love.

The Crew

A key to making  RealPasifik possible  was keeping things smart and efficient without compromising quality. The entire series has been filmed using a two-camera team with a sound recordist to capture all the amazing sights, sounds and personalities.

Filming in paradise sounds pretty ideal. And it has been brilliant, a true working holiday, although by no means a picnic in the park. We wanted to capture as many stories as possible from each country, so the crew spent most of their time rushing from location to location or inside the busy (and often pretty hot) kitchens at each resort.  New Zealand was no different, a bit less tropical perhaps.

Episode director Brendan Withy and camera operator Phil Brown get amongst it in Meredith’s restaurant kitchen.

Sound recordist John McNicholas capturing the gasps of pleasure during lunch on the beautiful Hine Moana.

The Transport

For our most recent shoot we were lucky enough to have Green Rental on board to provide Toyota Hybrid vehicles. Not only did they solve our logistical challenges, but  even better, they provided us with an eco-friendly alternative. The company’s owner, Patrick, watched cautiously as we piled into one of his newest shiny hybrid vans and drove off silently to our shoot first stop in Rotorua.
